A living legend in the Sydney music and teaching community, Bruce is a highly experienced educator and has been a part of Rockstar since its early foundation. Bruce became acquainted with Director Luke Edwards over 22 years ago, when he provided drum lessons for Luke's eldest son when he was just 4 years old (he is now 26!).
Bruce's teaching history spans decades (with possibly as many teaching hours of all staff combined!) and we are extremely fortunate to have him as the backbone of the Rockstar Team. Bruce studied with New Zealand Symphony Orchestra's Gary Brain, in the late 70's whilst studying music at Wellington Polytechnic.
Bruce has been teaching since he himself was a student and has been a prominent educator in Sydney's Inner West for almost 3 decades. Bruce was teacher/coordinator at Music City/Billy Hydes (where he met Luke and his sons) and has worked in local primary schools teaching percussion since the early 2000's. He joined Rockstar in 2010 and in his words "nothing has been quite the same ever since...in a good way!"
Bruce's playing experience covers classical and contemporary genres - rock, jazz and blues, and has an extensive history playing with a number of bands and musicians. To quote Elton John, he's "twiddled his thumbs in a dozen odd bands". Bruce is currently very active in the Sydney music community with a steady schedule of live gigs.
Bruce brings a wealth of experience and incredible patience to his lessons. His calm, steady and good humoured nature makes him a wonderful teacher and team member. His drumming is highly accomplished and whether you are a beginner or advanced he will bring joy, finesse and polish to your playing.
Bruce believes in a flexible, creative and interactive approach to teaching and believes that while no two students are alike they are all amazing. Not only an accomplished drummer Bruce is also a talented guitarist and the consummate band master, which why we often refer to him as "band master Bruce".
Hannah is a professional musician performing all over Sydney region every weekend. She has played music for as long as she remembers, starting violin when she was 3 years of age, and was first hired as a wedding singer at age 14.
Hannah was heavily involved with her classical studies throughout high school, completing her final AMEB exam at age 15, and becoming the first chair (violin) in the orchestra at Newtown Performing Arts in her final year.
Following high school Hannah delved into the Sydney pub rock scene, gigging around Sydney, singing, playing violin, guitar and performed with various seasoned rockstars. This led to Hannah studying contemporary music, majoring in vocals, at AIM.
As a teacher Hannah aims, first and foremost, to help students find their own voice as a musician and also offer her own knowledge, expertise and experience of performing.
In Hannah’s own musical journey, she’s had a strong emphasis on the rewards that come from dedication and regular practice which she hopes to imbue this in her students, whether they be very serious players or those looking to have music in their lives just for fun! Hannah strives to offer her students the same patience, kindness and encouragement that her own teachers gave her.
Hannah is also Rockstar's Education Coordinator and assists with coordinating enrolments, student schedules and various Rockstar programs.

Grace is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Music at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the Tutelage of Anke Höppner. She is a proud recipient of the Peter Davidson scholarship and the Alan Hyland scholarship.
Grace started singing musical theatre in high school and taught herself piano in the process of learning music. Translating this to her teaching process; Grace values the importance of having an instrument to accompany singers not just in performance, but throughout the learning experience of singing and musical literacy. Grace has extensive experience in all genres including jazz, rock, musical theatre and opera. After becoming a finalist in the regional Opera Australia scholarships and receiving an encore nomination for HSC music, Grace commenced her degree.
Grace believes that she would not be where she is today, working with opera companies in Sydney and composers like Deborah Cheetham, without the support and wisdom from her own teachers. Grace values creating a positive learning environment that encourages a holistic way of learning; individualised lesson structures that take into account each child's strengths and extra needs. She uses classical technique that is able to apply to any genre of music to support healthy and vibrant singing throughout all stages of life.
Grace enjoys building strong relationships with students so they feel safe, relaxed and curious in order for learning and practice to feel like a fun activity they look forward to.
