Founder and Director Luke Edwards BSW UNSW is a qualified Social Worker (registered with the AASW) with an extensive professional background including over 25 years working with children, young people and families for both government and community agencies, including Parent Infant Psychotherapist/Benevolent Society, Coordinator Bridge Program/CatholicCare and Child Protection for the NSW Government. In addition to his work in Social Work and Psychotherapy, Luke is also a multi-instrumental musician, producer, songwriter. His innovative work combining social work, psychotherapy and music has earned recognition - Merit 12th Annual Catholic Social Services Australia Awards - and has been presented at various conferences in Australia and overseas.
Luke's Grandparents and mother were also Leichhardt locals. His uncle, Ian Krahe was a pioneer in the Australian music scene with his ground breaking pub/punk rock bands Evil Roomers and "X". Ian Krahe and his bands were part of the inner west cultural rock revolution that saw the birth of many bands, such as "X" and AC/DC - bands which influenced the sound of rock music in Australia and overseas.
Luke has strong ties to the inner west, he was a graduate of Newtown Performing Arts (way back in the day in the first two years of Newtown's inception) and was the recipient of the Frank Zuffo music award when he graduated. After completing his bachelor of Social Work degree at UNSW and commencing his career as a Social Worker, Luke maintained his connection with music by developing music production skills (Diploma in Electronic Music Production at SAE) and writing music for a number of projects, including commissions by various Sydney art galleries under his production name "Art On Air". His original music was included in the feature film "I Know How Runs You Scored Last Summer" and he has also written for fashion, short film, documentaries and advertising.
Luke is president of the management committee for the Glebe Music Project (GMP), also know as The Cave - a unique rehearsal space under the light rail near the Tramsheds. In partnership with Geoff Holmes (Sydney music legend, friend, mentor and his Uncle Ian's friend and bandmate), Bruce Stephens (long time friend, drumming legend and Rockstar "2IC") as well as Mark Evans (rock legend, ex AC/DC and Rose Tattoo and newest member of the Rockstar Team), Luke is working to create an inner city/inner west music hub where musicians can rehearse, record and promote their music, keeping the Inner West music culture alive and invigorated.
Luke continues to write and produce his own music and is a regular performer with his band "The Slack Punks".
Luke is the incredibly proud father of Zac and Jake - who are now two very extraordinary young men. Rockstar has historically been the side show that has developed while he was busy with the main event - raising his two sons. He and his sons have lived in Leichhardt for over 20 years.
Luke's social work background, means a commitment to social justice that not only works towards creating a healthier individual but also a healthier community and society. When combined with music and principals of Psychotherapy, Luke's unique approach has created some wonderfully successful, innovative and empowering programs.
In 2014, in conjunction with his innovative guitar group program with the Multi Mix Mob, an indigenous mothers playgroup in the Inner West, Luke was commissioned by the NSW Government to write the song "Love, Yarn, Sing, Read, Play" as part of the governments early childhood Deadly Tots program. Luke and the Multi Mix Mob have performed this song and showcased their work at conferences around Australia and the WIPC conference in Hawaii.

Luke has successfully initiated and supported the musical development of young superstar - Houndog Harry, as part of Rockstar's Inclusive Arts Program - "Support Band". Luke and Harry are a songwriting powerhouse and joined by rock royalty Mark Evans (ex-AC/DC) on bass and Jason Whalley (Frenzol Rhomb) as producer, egg shaker and backing vocal extraordinaire - and the group are ready to take on the world.
Luke has facilitated a successful grant from the good people at the Dylan Alcott Foundation, the recording of two songs with producer Jason Whalley at the Pet Food Factory and (in close consultation with Harry and his family) is directing and coordinating Harry's first video clip for his soon to be released single - "My Life Is Delicious".
