Rockstar School has been bringing music to our community for over 15 years. From humble beginnings - a music school started by a Social Worker with a child and family centred approach to music education - we've become an Inner West institution with almost 300 students, a growing team of staff and a unique approach to music that goes beyond simple learning but aims to improve our lives and well being through music.
Our staff are all music industry professionals with a passion for music and dedicated to making music enjoyable and accessible for all our students. All staff have Working With Children (WWC) checks. Our staff have regular supervision sessions in which we review all students and examine ways we can best support their musical and developmental growth.
Rockstar was given its name because we aim to ensure that every student can "feel like a rockstar".
LIFE ISN'T ALWAYS EASY BUT MUSIC MAKES IT BETTER.
Standard Music lessons are by the half hour. We offer tailored tuition in guitar, bass, uke, drums, percussion, vocals and keys. Our approach is based around the musical interests, age and ability of each student and we aim to ensure that our sessions are engaging, enjoyable and educational. The Rockschool AMEB syllabus for guitar, bass and drums is also available for those students looking for a graded and structured system.
All Fees are payable by the term. Please see our Fees Policy below.

To book your place at ROCKSTAR SCHOOL, fees are payable at the start of term. Your payment is a term fee that secures your booked day and time for the term. You will receive an invoice at the beginning of term.
To book and hold your place in the Rockstar Term Teaching Schedule your term fees are payable in full regardless of your attendance. Rockstar pays its staff to be present for all booked times on a term basis. This continuity assists to ensure that we retain a committed team of experienced and dedicated teachers to teach our wonderful Rockstar students.
In the event that a teacher is away, a credit will be applied to your account or alternatively you are welcome to request a refund.
Unfortunately Rockstar Term Teaching Schedules are regularly fully booked with a wait list, so in most instances there are simply no other times available for a catch up lesson. Also, due to Rockstars staff payment policy, a catch up lesson would also require Rockstar to pay its staff twice for one lesson: once for lesson missed when staff was in attendance and again for the catch up lesson. We do appreciate that things happen and can understand the need to make up for lessons missed so we have set up the CANCELLATION LIST.
If you have missed a lesson then you are eligible to go on the CANCELLATION list for the current term. Simply contact Rockstar and request to be placed on the term CANCELLATION LIST. Once you've been added you will be notified of any cancellations (that are given with due notice) and have the opportunity to take the spot that is up for grabs (first person to grab it gets it!). Please note the cancellation spot may be with a different teacher.
If you prefer not to commit to a regular day and time and pay the term fee, you can choose to pay the casual fee. Casual lessons are only available when there is a vacant spot in the Rockstar Term Teaching schedule. Casual lessons are paid week to week via bank transfer and you can cancel at any time.
Please note that your casual lesson spot IS NOT GUARANTEED. Your casual spot can be claimed by a Standard Term fee paying student at any time.
